Which stocks fell even though the business grew?
Over time, share prices tend to follow earnings. When a growing company’s stock falls anyway, investors are paying less for each dollar of profit: they may expect growth to slow, fear a new competitor, or simply have moved on. These are the stocks where price and business have parted ways.

How to read this page
How it’s measured. S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 companies worth $10 billion or more. Sales and diluted earnings per share over the last four reported quarters against the four before; both must have grown at least 10%, from positive earnings. Share prices are adjusted for splits. P/E a year ago is the price then over the earnings reported by then.
Sources. Daily prices and company financial statements from Financial Modeling Prep.
Earnings are as reported, so a one-off gain or charge can move them; companies whose earnings rose more than 150% are left out, since that is usually a one-off.
In our research, stocks that fell while their business kept growing did no better afterwards than other stocks that fell: they mostly rose and fell with the market. A lower P/E describes the price, not what comes next.
