Why splits each move three ways: the S&P 500’s move, the extra move of the stock’s group, and what is left for the company alone. The largest part in the direction of the move gives the label.
In our research, big one-day drops have not reliably bounced back, and big gains have not reliably reversed. A large move describes today; it is not a signal on its own.
